新加坡高等教育及其特征

Singapore's Higher Education & Its Characteristics

新加坡自1959年获得自治后,其高等教育迅速发展,特别是进入20世纪80年代以来,又相继新建并整合了几所高校。到目前为止,新加坡共有六所高校(两所大学和四所学院)。本文就新加坡六所高校的历史现状以及两项重大改革措施(即重视通才教育和招生制度的改革)作出简要介绍,并对新加坡高等教育的三个突出特征即国际化程度高、职业化程度高和现代化程度高进行分析。

Since Singapore gained its autonomy in 1959, the education in Singapore has made rapid progress. After 1980s, some new universities have been built and a few old universities have been reorganized. So far, there are six colleges and universities in Singapore (four colleges and two universities). This paper makes a brief introduction to the present situation and the history of the six colleges and universities as well as two important reforming measures. It also analyzes the three characteristics of Singapore's higher education, i.e. its internationalization, professionalism and modernization.
