现代文学史上,穆时英、刘呐鸥在伪上海"孤岛时期"的活动扑朔迷离,对其身份、死因说法各异。这对"新感觉派"的研究很不利。现结合新发现的资料和汪伪时期上海报界的实际情况,认为他们都曾效力于汪伪汉奸政府的新闻宣传;但穆时英并不是汉奸,他的身份是中统特工但被军统误杀;刘呐鸥虽然是汉奸,但他是因赌场经济问题被青红帮暗杀,不是政治问题。
