30年代的“本位文化”与“全盘西化”的论战

On the Heated Contorversy Between the Departmental Culture and Westernization in the 30's

1935年1月,十教授发表《中国本位的文化建设宣言》,引起本位文化派和西化派的激烈论战。论战主要围绕对中国实情的分析、对中西文化的认识以及对中国文化出路的选择等问题展开;与此同时,在西化派内部围绕全盘西化问题也有激烈争论。与五四前后的东西文化论战比较,30年代的这场文化论战对文化的民族性与时代性、中国文化与西方文化以及西化与现代化等问题的认识有了进步。

In Jan. 1935, ten professors published The Declaration of Culture Construction Based on Chinese Culture, thus evoked a heated controversy between the cultural departmentalists and westernizationists. The controversy was mainly centered on the following issues: what is the reality China faced with, how to understand Chinese culture and Western culture, where is the way for Chinese culture to go. At the same time, a heated controversy on westernization also happened among the cultural westernizationists. Compared with the cultural controversy in the May-forth period, in the cultural controversy in 1930s a great progress in people's recognition has been made on such issues as the nationality and universality of culture, the recognition of Chinese culture and Western culture, westernization and modernization.
