From Nationalism to Post-colonialism

随着经济的全球化 ,与民族国家密切相关的民族主义问题日益成为与现代性相提并论的重要话题 ,不过 ,与殖民扩张时代对民族主义所进行的张扬大为不同的是 ,在当代西方的主流话语中 ,“民族”和“民族主义”变成了被抑制、被抹杀和被超越的对象。

Under the circumstances of economic globalization, the issues of nationalism that are closely connected with nation-state have become topics as important as modernity. However, what differs from the exaltation of nationalism at the age of colonialist expansion is that “nation” and “nationalism” have become objects being suppressed, subdued and transcended in the main discourse of the contemporary West. This essay analyzes mainly the historical function and the present situation of nationalism from the perspectives of postmodernism and post-colonialism.
