宋室南渡初30年,政坛一波三折,词风亦随之迭宕起伏。绍兴和议以前,在进元而退政宣的政治背景下,词坛通过对政宣风流的清算来完成崇雅黜浮的词学使命,借助于再续元学术来完成苏轼词风的重振。与此同时,在北宋党争余波的冲击下,南渡词人实现了合理重组。绍兴和议以后,随着秦桧的上台与专政,在文化高压政策的影响下,南渡词坛的风气又转向了谀颂与委靡。

After fleeing south, the court of the North Song Dynasty was replaced by that of the South Song Dynasty. The style of Ci also underwent some changes. That is, Ci should be elegant with Su Shi as a fine example. At the same time, the poetic circle was reformed under the remaining influence of the inner party struggle. Unfortunately, the style of Ci was forced to change after Shaoxing peace treaty had been signed when Qing Hui assumed the control of the court as the prime minister.
