The water town scenery in Dongguan is increasingly flooded by the tide of industrialization.Attention should be paid to theflexible combination of utilization and development of waterside area and the protection of cultural characteristics in the developmentof the water towns in Dongguan.It is suggested to set up complex communities and establish a development pattern in which townconstruction and cultural continuation interacts with each other so as to re-create the culture of the water town.[
