“Origination from Love”and the early development of Ci

明代以后,词“缘情”几乎成为学术界的公论,俨然词天然适合“写艳”。其实“缘情”并非早期词的本色。本文从早期词的文本入手,结合对社会历史现实与文人心态的分析,探讨早期词的本色以及词“缘情”特性形成的深层因素。

Since Ming Dynasty, the notion that Ci originates from love has become a widely accepted conclusion among scholars of ancient.Chinese literature claiming that Ci by nature is suitable to the expression of erotic feelings. As a matter of fact, Ci at its early stage did not originate from love at all. This article combines the analysis of texts of early Ci works and that of the social,historical realities as well as the writers' minds to explore the intrinsic qualities of Ci and the profound factors behind the idea that Ci originates from love.
