The Comparison and Translation of Politeness Language Between English and Chinese

文化与翻译关系密切。礼貌作为一种文化现象,在不同的文化中具有差异性。本文试从礼貌标准、称呼语、招呼语、谦语与敬语以及对称赞语的反应五个方面论述了礼貌在英汉两种语言中的语用差异,并试着从语义等值、语用等效的原则出发,对礼貌用语的翻译做了一些探讨。

Translation is closely related to culture. As a phenomenon of culture, politeness has some differences in different cultures. This paper, from the aspects of politeness principles, addressing, greeting, courtesy and honorific, and the response to compliments, discusses the differences in the use of politeness between the languages of English and Chinese. Then, based on the principles of semantic and pragmatic equivalence, it continues to discuss the translating methods of politeness language.
