在美国,对高校的评审,是由私立的、非赢利的地区性机构进行的。对于评审机构来说,评审目的是确保并改进各校之质量,对于各参评院校来说,则是向公众证明其教学质量,并获得政府资助基金的途径。

The higher education accreditation in the United States of America undertakes by the private, non-profit regional accrediting organizations. It is the purpose to improve the education quality for the accrediting organizations, while to make them well known to the public and to receive the government funds for the universities and colleges.
