GUAN Hanqing wrote a series of Zaju about prostitutes.He paid close attention to their life and found that these women were no longer to be humble and vulnerable as former works described but to be lively and firm.They were charming,clever,decent and their dignity was not different from that of men.GUAN Hanqing found that the women also had independent character and this finding made him an advanced and respected male writer.
