摘要
英语中一词多义现象的形成主要有四个原因:使用范围的转移、专业词汇和普通词汇之间的相互转化、由于修辞而产生的多义和语言使用过程中的省略。多义词各个义项之间存在"连锁连接"和"辐射"两种关系。语言语境和情景语境对于消除多义词使用过程中产生的歧义起关键性的作用。
Polysemy comes into being in four different ways: shift of application in different fields, mutual transformation between common words and specialized words, the figurative use of words and ellipsis in language use.The relationship between the meanings of a polysemant can be summarized as concatenation and radiation. Context plays an essential role in the elimination of ambiguity caused by polysemants.
