Cao Dian-qiu's Higher Educational Practice and Thinking

曹典球一生历经清末、民国、新中国三个不同的历史时期,活跃在政治、文化、教育等领域,尤其与教育结下了不解之缘。他力行实业救国,重视工业教育和理工人才培养,主张文化扬弃和中西文化交融,强调教师队伍建设与因材施教。作为湖南工科高等教育的创始人,曹典球的这些教育思想符合当时中国的国情,促进了湖南高等教育事业的发展。

Cao Dian-qiu went through three different periods: last days of Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China. He lived actively in the fields of politics, culture and education and had an indissoluble bond with the education. Through his whole life, he made every effort to carry out the policy of saving the country through industry, paid great attention to the industry education and training of science and engineering persons, held the views developing what is useful or healthy and discarding what is not and exchanging the Chinese and Western culture, emphasized the construction of teachers and teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. As a founder of science and engineering higher education in Hunan Province, Cao made a contribution to the development of Hunan higher educational course.
