Usage of the Negative Adverbs in the Eastern Han Dynasty

否定副词在甲骨文中已初具规模,在东汉,它们在继承周秦已然的基本否定功能的同时,较为明显地表现出一种跨类兼用而又趋同于"不"的承上启下的过渡性特征,显示了否定副词由明确分工到分工不明再到明确分工的总体发展趋势。

Ever since the Shang Dynasty,the negative adverbs had appeared in the inscriptions on the bones or tortoise shells. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, they carried on the basic negative function developed in the Zhou and Qin Dynasties while showing more features, e.g. the division of meaning, and function of the negative adverbs developed from clearness to unclearness then to clearness again.
