前人对陶渊明的年寿总共有六种看法:63岁说、76岁说、56岁说、51岁说、52岁说、59岁。在这六种看法中,以63岁说最为可信,因为这一说法史有明文,这一说法去古最近,这一说法与陶渊明的诗文抵触最小。

In the past, people had six views on TAO Yuan-Ming's life-span:①sixty-three;②seventy-three;③fifty-six;④fifty-one;⑤fifty-two;⑥fifty-nine. Of the six views the first is the most authentic, because: (a) it was ever recorded clearly in history; (b) it is the oldest saying; (c) it has the least conflicts with TAO Yuan-Ming's poems and essays.
