Another Path of Urbanization:The Agricultural Industrialization in Shouguang City as an Example

传统理论大都不同程度地忽视了现代农业在城镇化中的地位。对寿光农业产业化与城镇化状况的考察表明,农业在寿光城乡协调发展中和农业产业化与城镇化中具有特殊重要地位。寿光实践证明,农业可以成为区域城镇化的产业基础,从而丰富了农业产业化促进城镇化的理论和实践基础。

Traditional theories neglect, to certain extent, the vital role that agriculture can play in economic development. This essay, based on the investigation of agricultural industrialization and urbanization in Shouguang City, demon- strates the special effect of agriculture on the harmonious development of and the virtuous circle between urban and rural area. It analyzes the relations between agricultural industrialization and urbanization as well as the theoretical reasons for and practical base of agricultural industrialization to promote urbanization. This essay puts forward the concept of Shouguang Model and analyzes briefly its characteristics. The investigation shows that agriculture can be an important industrial base of regional urbanization.
