This article deals with the great positive impact of infusing the knowledge of cultural background on the learning and teaching of English in universities and colleges in terms of the relationship between language and culture and the cultivation of intercultural communication competence. Furthermore, it puts forward several principles and ways of infusing the knowledge of cultural background in college English teaching.
