In this paper, the authors first give a brief introduction of the key technologies including the technologies of mobile computing, embedded system,mobile interlink, and mobile locating, then discuss the two architectures of embedded GIS: off-line architecture and on-line architecture. The implementation of embedded GIS based on PDA is troduced by an example.
