In World WarⅡ, Britain allied itself with America. Their special relation took shape. In the early days of the war, the problem of India's independence became a touchstone for checking the ally's degree of firmness. First, they had divergence and each stuck to his own view and interest. The wartime ally seemed to disintegrate. But the threat which democracy was facing and the efforts that the leaders of the two countries tried made the two countries eliminate their divergence and keep the ally.
