According to a 2003 surveyby Mercer Human ResourceConsulting on the cost of living,Hong Kong and Beijing are theworld's fourth and firth mostexpensive cities. Shanghai hasfallen to number 11 from itsposition of 5th last year. Thesurvey covers 144 cities, andcompares the cost of over 200items in each location. Theyinclude housing, food, clothing,household goods, and alsotransport and entertainment.
