摘要
19世纪末澳籍女作家亨利·汉德尔·理查森因长篇小说一举成名,但其创作的短篇小说却被批评家贬为具有女性狭隘性,被严肃文学拒之门外。但是在女性政治、经济地位日益提高、女性文学极大发展的今天,我们应该重新审视理查森的短篇小说。事实上,她是通过自己独具特色的短篇小说向世人宣告,女性作家也可以拥有自己独立的审美意识,女性文学也有它的自在状态。从这个意义上说,理查森的短篇小说是具有历史进步性的,是文学领域里反映女性话语的经典之作。
Henry Handel Richardson,one 19th_century Australian woman writer,was once regarded as a writer with a sense of narrowness.Yet a feminist reading of her short stories,based on the deconstruction view,tells us that her portrait of the woman characters and her unique styles are actually critical to the patriarchal society.In the background of today's quick development of feminist literature accompanied with the promotion of women's politcial and economic status,the author,through her unique short stories,tells the world that women writers can have their own independent aesthetic appreciation and feminist literature has its own right of free existence.In this sense,Richardson's short stories show her historical progressiveness and are classics embodying feminist discourse.
