摘要 大限将近的味道,正在逼迫EMS用恐龙的骨架跑出猎豹的速度。 On May 10, DHL announced its plan to invest $215 millions in China. Under the agreement of China's entry into WHO, the logistics in the country should be allround open to the world in 2005, and then foreign companies should be allowed to set up their own delivery affiliates to do business in China. Now the real threat is impending for EMS, the delivery division of China Post. As the statistics shows, although EMS has stayed as the top in the express delivery market in China since 1995, its annual growth is only 2%, while the market expands at the pace of 30% a year during the period. In the international express business market, the share of EMS has dropped from the highest 97% to the present 40% or so, while the businesses of such transnational giants as DHL, FedEx, UPS, TNT in China keep on growing at an annual rate of 20%. As the foreign companies Stride, domestic private delivery companies also grow rapidly and launch attacks at it from the back. To fight against the attacks, EMS has begun overnight service in the Yangtze Delta, Pearl Delta and the Area around Bohai Sea, and spread around the country after the trial is successful. Besides, improvement of services and adjustments to fees are also the priorities in the coming period. The opening of the express delivery market is now leading the state-owned enterprise accustomed to monopoly to become healthy. However, there are also industry analysts worrying 'an animal with a skeleton of dinosaur may never run as fast as leopard.' That may be the real challenge EMS would face next.
