秦汉时期士兵衣服是官给还是私备问题考辨

Argument on Whether the Soldiers' Uniforms in the Ch'in and Han Dynasties Were Government-provided or Privately-prepared

关于秦汉时期士兵的衣服是官给还是私备问题,史学界一直有争议,至今没有定论。一部分学者认为是私备,还有一部分认为是官给。二者的述说似乎都有道理。但将二者进行比较辨析,再对相关史料进行认真研究以后,不难发现秦汉时期士兵的衣服私备的情况确有,但并非普遍情况。相反,大量史料证明,秦汉时期士兵的衣服应以官府供给为主。

There is always a dispute on whether the soldiers' uniforms in the Ch'in and Han Dynasties were provided by the government or by the soldiers themselves. Some scholars hold the view that the uniforms were provided by the government, while others said the soldiers themselves prepared them. Both of them have their own reasons. But if we make a comparative analysis on them, together with conscientious study of relative historical data, it isn't difficult for us to find out that there were indeed some privately-prepared uniforms, but it was not a prevalent thing. On the contrary, a great deal of historical materials bears out that the soldiers' uniforms in the Ch'in and Han Dynasties were mainly provided by the government.
