The inform ation service function ofthe library is undergoing a greatrevolution in network environm ent.This paper expounds the developm ent and variation of the library's function from four aspects of the literature carriers,col- lection form s,transm ission m odes and service m anners,describes the features that the m odern library should have,and puts forward the m eans and counterm easures for the construction ofthe m odern library in network environm ent.
