Colleges and the universities cannot keep prosperity for a long time unless they are supported by the core competition. Based on the core competition, the higher education institutions can surpass rivals and puts themselves in an advantage position. This paper put forward the methods of developing the core competition of higher education institutions by analyzing its definition, connotation and characteristic.
