The development of the expert system ZJES for rational type and working resistance selection of hyduaulic powered support was base on a wide and deep investigation on fully mechanized mining face support technologies at home and abroad , the experiences from more than 50 experts at home, and the measuring and monitoring results from more than 70 fully mechanizd mining faces. The expert system can provide a means of an applied computer aid consultance which could select the type, structure, working resistances and other parameters of the hydraulic powered supports. The practices shown that this system has a high acceptances and good reliability, and can meet with designers requirements to make powered support design and face support selection.
