In this paper a method for determining thelocating datum in boring cylinder blocks during the major overhaul of automotive engines is proposed according to the deformation degrees of cylinder block to be bored, the facilities to be used in the repairing plant, the requirements of customers and the boring accuracy to be reached etc.
