Hydrogen probes are developed mainly for the inspection of the permeation rate of hydrogen atoms into the steel, by which the degradation of the ductility/embrittlement and the susceptibility of HIC of the steel can be measured. In this paper the probing principles and performances of various types of hydrogen probe were summarized and its developing prospect was predicted.
