侯仁之,山东恩县人,著名历史地理学家,中国历史地理学奠基人.1911年出生于河北枣强,1940年毕业于燕京大学,1952年任教于北京大学地质地理系,历任系主任兼校副教务长、城市和环境科学系教授、博士生导师等职,及北京市文物古迹保护委员会主任、中国地理学会副理事长、中国建筑学会城市规划学术委员会副主任、全国政协委员.现为北京市人民政府首都发展战略顾问组顾问、中国科学院院士.
Hou Renzhi, native of Enxian County, Shandong Province, is a famous historical geographer and the founder of China'sHistorical Geography. He was born in Zaoqiang, Hebei in 1911 and graduated from Yanjing University (former name of BeijingUniversity) in 1940. Since 1952, he had taken a teaching job in the Department of Geology and Geography of Beijing University,serving successively as chairman and vice dean of studies, professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of City andEnvironmental Science, etc. Moreover, he also takes the responsibilities as the chairman of Beijing Cultural Relic and Historic SpotProtection Committee, Vice Chairman of China Academy of Geography, Vice Director of City Planning Academic Committee ofArchitectural Society of China Background and the member of the National Committee of CPPCC. At present, he holds the post ofconsultant in the Beijing Governmental Counseling Group for Capital Developing Strategy and also holds the title of academician ofChina Academy of Scien ing the 28th Session of Word Heritage Committee organized by UNESCO and held in Suzhou City, I finally got in touch withr. Hou Renzhi through the introduction of Mr. Zhang Kaiji, a famous architect. Therefore, with the admiration and sense of mysteryin my mind, I interviewed the prestigious old man for his colodul life.
