A cultural analysis of the symbol “亚”(ya)

亚字符号早在商代就已被创造出来。亚字是先民根据对大地八方位的认识而创造出来的一个文字符号 ,是先民关于宇宙结构———空间方位观念的符号化。

The symbol “亚” was created as early as in the Shang Dynasty. This paper holds that it is a cultural symbol our ancestors created according to the eight directions of the earth, which reflected their notion of universal structure, space and direction.
