中国古代历史教育研究是一个跨学科的综合性课题。从本质而言,历史教育是一种培养人们历史文化素质和历史认识能力,促使其达到解决现实问题、指导社会实践、正确把握和自觉遵循历史客观规律等目的的社会实践活动。中国古代历史教育研究可以从综合的角度划分为历代统治阶级内部主要针对统治者尤其是对帝王进行的历史教育、各级学校中的历史教育、社会教育(社会教化)活动和其他非教育活动中的历史教育等三个大的研究层次,以探讨其在目的、对象、途径、内容、功能等诸方面的特征。中国古代历史教育与历史学、经学等相关学科领域有着密切的关系。中国古代历史教育研究在理论和实践上具有重要价值和深远意义。

Historical education deals with a wide range of disciplines and is a comprehensive problem. This paper,taking the history of historical education in ancient China for the focus of attention, puts the stress on several questions that have a direct bearing on the research of historical education in ancient China. These questions include the essential meaning of historical education,the three studying aspect of history of historical education,the relations between historical education and other disciplines,the significance of historical education study,etc.
