Telomeres are widely regarded as the “mitotic clock” of the cell and serve as markers of biological aging. Keeping telomere length above the critical threshold is the key to the immortalization of ma-lignant tumor cells and a key factor in the development of cancer in adults and children. Recent studies have shown that telomere maintenance in neuroblastoma, whether activated by telomerase or ALT, is a definitive marker of neuroblastoma risk disease. This article summarizes the role of te-lomere abnormalities in the pathogenesis of neuroblastoma and provides a new research direction for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of neuroblastoma disease.
