Varicose veins are twisted and dilated veins, most commonly found in the lower extremities. The disease has a familial predisposition and is associated with a family history of valvular insufficiency and increased venous pressure. Potential complications include infection, leg ulcers and thrombosis. This article will review the etiological mechanism, clinical manifestations, imaging examination and clinical treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities.
