According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 400 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes, and depression is also a global mental health issue affecting billions of individuals. The prevalence of depression among diabetic patients may be higher than that in the general population. As a serious complication of diabetes, patients with diabetic foot may face a higher risk of psychological stress and depression. Diabetic foot is a common and dangerous complication that causes serious health problems for patients and can also have a profound impact on their mental health. Depression is a common mental health condition, and when patients are also struggling with diabetic foot complications, this mental health issue often worsens. Therefore, this article summarizes and reviews relevant studies on the impact factors of depression in diabetic foot patients both domestically and internationally, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the formulation of clinical treatment methods and nursing measures for depression in patients with diabetic foot. This further improves the physical and mental health of diabetic foot patients and enhances their quality of life.
