Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common pathological type. The main cause of NSCLC-related deaths is distant metastasis. Therefore, it is necessary to find novel biomarkers to identify NSCLC patients with high metastatic risk for closer follow-up and more personalized treatment, thereby improving the survival of NSCLC patients. Because of the advantages, such as easy accessibility, high stability, specificity, and sensitivity, circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have broad application prospects as molecular biomarkers for predicting NSCLC metastasis. In this review, the role of circulating miRNAs as biomarkers in predicting NSCLC metastasis is reviewed, in order to provide a new strategy for improving the prognosis of NSCLC.
