Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

中医药在慢性阻塞性肺疾病(Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, COPD)治疗中展现出显著的应用价值。本研究通过分期治疗策略,针对COPD的不同阶段,中医药采取了分期治疗的策略。在急性加重期,以驱邪宣肺、降气化痰为主,旨在迅速缓解患者症状;而在稳定期,则注重健脾补肺、益气扶正,以改善患者的整体健康状况和提高生活质量。现代医学研究进一步揭示了中医药治疗COPD的机制,包括调节免疫系统、抑制炎症反应、抗氧化应激等。此外,中医药与西药的联合使用能够发挥协同作用,提高治疗效果,同时减轻西药的副作用。近年来,中医药治疗COPD的专利申请数量不断增加,用药规律也逐渐明确,为COPD的个性化治疗提供了更为有力的支持。综上所述,中医药在COPD的治疗中具有显著的优势和独特的价值,值得临床进一步推广和应用。Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) demonstrates significant application value in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In this study, TCM was adopted through a staged treatment strategy for different stages of COPD. In the acute exacerbation stage, the main focus is to drive away the evil spirits and promote the lungs, lowering qi and resolving phlegm, aiming at rapidly relieving patients’ symptoms;whereas in the stabilization stage, emphasis is placed on strengthening the spleen and tonifying the lungs, benefiting the qi and supporting the vital energy to improve the patients’ overall health status and enhance their quality of life. Modern medical research has further revealed the mechanisms of TCM in the treatment of COPD, including the regulation of the immune system, inhibition of inflammatory response, and anti-oxidative stress. In addition, the combined use of TCM and western medicines can exert synergistic effects and improve the therapeutic effects while reducing the side effects of western medicines. In recent years, the number of patent applications for the treatment of COPD with TCM has been increasing, and the pattern of medication has been gradually clarified, which provides more powerful support for the personalized treatment of COPD. In conclusion, Chinese medicine has significant advantages and unique value in the treatment of COPD, which is worthy of further clinical promotion and application.
