In the Frankfurt School’s social critical theory, Adorno’s critical theory of mass culture uses culture as the entry point of social criticism to criticize the evils of capitalist society. This paper explores the core ideas of Adorno’s theory of “culture industry” and its adaptability in contemporary society, and criticizes the limitations of Adorno’s theory. It aims to provide a new perspective for understanding the dynamics of contemporary society and culture, and to put forward new thinking on the rela-tionship between cultural industry and social control.
