The totality thought is a new interpretation of Marxist dialectics by Lukacs, but his totality thought is weak in ontology. It is undeniable that Lukacs promoted people to rethink the real connotation of Marxist dialectics, but his totality thought absorbed Hegel’s excessive concept of absolute spirit, which made him unable to prove his theory in practice. Marxist dialectics is easy to be dogmatized and formalized in practice because of its guiding property as a methodology. It is of great significance to re-examine Lukacs’ totality thought to understand Marxist dialectics.
