Disney’s live-action film Mulan is adapted from the narrative poem Song of Mulan of the Southern and Northern Dynasties. It tells the story of the protagonist Song of Mulan who joined the army for her father and found her true self and proved her self-worth on the battlefield. After the movie was released, the response was mediocre, and domestic audiences believed that there were many forcefully stacked Chinese elements in the movie, which were not in line with the historical back-ground and were significantly different from the familiar "Mulan Ci" and could not resonate with people. The heroism expressed in Song of Mulan is mainly the filial piety of Hua Mulan when she joined the army for her father and the responsibility of her family. This heroism is built on the basis of the interests of the people and the country and cannot help but radiate brilliance. In the perfor-mance of the Disney movie Mulan, Mulan is a hero, but what she pursues on the battlefield is achievement and glory. Disney Princess Mulan always shows strong self-centered and independent consciousness on the way to realizing her self-worth. By observing both, this article delves into the fundamental reasons behind them from a cross-cultural perspective, specifically examining the cultural differences between China and the United States.
