从概念隐喻看英汉文化对比——以季节词“秋”为例

摘要 隐喻长期以来被定义为一种修辞手段。George Lakoff和Mark Johnson在Metaphors We Live By一书中提出了概念隐喻的观点,指出隐喻在日常生活中普遍存在,是一种重要的认知机制和思维方式。本文着眼于季节词“秋”,从认知角度对季节词“秋”的英汉概念及隐喻进行对比,分析其个性与共性之中隐含的英汉文化差异,讨论英汉概念隐喻的理解和表达对对外汉语教学的启示。 Metaphor has been defined as rhetoric for a long time. The book Metaphors We Live By, which was written by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, proposed a viewpoint called “Conceptual Metaphor”. It shows that metaphor as an important cognitive mechanism, is common in our daily life, and it provides a new way of thinking. The paper focuses on the season word “autumn”, compares the differences of concepts and metaphors of “autumn” between Chinese and English, analyzes the cultural differences implicates in metaphors between English and Chinese, and discusses the im-plications for teaching Chinese as a foreign language by understanding the conceptual metaphors in English and Chinese.
