The Book of Changes, as the paramount among Chinese classics, has experienced the collision and integration of Chinese and Western cultures in the process of translation and introduction since the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Based on the habitus, field, and capital of Bourdieu’s field theory, this paper probes into the interpretation and translation of The Book of Changes in the west from the perspective of sociology of translation study. It discusses the covariance of translation field with other social fields, expounds the role of various capitals and translators’ habitus in the whole translation process, including the selection of translation texts and strategies, as well as the publication, so as to provide a reference for future translation study of Chinese classics.
