Leech and Short’s theory of fictional stylistics is employed in this paper to conclude the speech and thought presentation features and their corresponding stylistic functions in the “Old Man and the Sea”. By rich varieties of speech and thought presentations and changing viewpoints, Hemingway depicted the old man Santiago’s struggle against the sea and the fate and his mind course as well, leaving us an immortal monument of language, thought and philosophy.
