新闻语篇中种族歧视语言的批评性话语分析——以《卫报》中的两篇新闻为例

Critical Discourse Analysis of Racist Language in News Discourse—Taking Two Articles from The Guardian as Examples

随着全球化的发展,当今的新闻媒体行业正变得越来越具有影响力,其制造舆论和传播思想的功能也越来越强大,因此读者必须用批判的眼光去阅读国外媒体文章。批评性话语分析作为新型语篇分析方法,具有很大的发展空间,其方法论建立在Halliday的系统功能语法的基础上。对语篇进行批评性话语分析可以揭示语言背后所蕴含的意识形态,以及作者如何通过语言表达自己的思想并让读者赞同自己的观点。本文在介绍批评性话语分析的概念及研究现状的基础上,选取了英国《卫报》的两篇文章,内容均与种族歧视话题有关,并利用系统功能语法的理论,从及物性、转换、情态三个方面对该两篇文章进行批评性话语分析,旨在探讨作者运用了何种语言现象,以及如何通过语言传达自己的态度及观点。

With the development of globalization, nowadays, the news media industry is becoming more and more influential. Its function of treating opinions and spreading ideas is also becoming more and more powerful. Therefore, readers have to read foreign media articles with a critical mindset. As a new method of analyzing discourse, critical discourse analysis (CDA) has great development space. Its methodology is based on systemic functional grammar proposed by Halliday. Using critical discourse analysis, it is possible to reveal the ideology entailed in language and find out how the author expresses his thoughts and makes readers agree with him through language. On the basis of the introduction of the concept and research status quo of critical discourse analysis, this paper selects two articles concerning the topic of racial discrimination from The Guardian. With the theory of systemic functional grammar, this paper conducts critical discourse analysis on the two articles from three aspects of transitivity, transformation and modality. The purpose is to explore what kind of expressions the author uses and how he conveys his own attitude and viewpoint through language.
