关联理论视角下的典故翻译研究——以《水浒传》两个英译本为例

On the Translation of Allusions from the Perspective of Relevance Theory—Exemplified with Two English Versions of Shui Hu Zhuan

《水浒传》作为中国古典四大名著之一,是中华民族的瑰宝,其中含有大量典故。本文选取沙博理和登特杨两个译本为例。典故翻译对译者来说是一个很难解决的难题。本文从关联理论角度出发,比较分析两个英译本中的典故翻译,评判其典故翻译的得与失,看其如何取得最佳关联,或提供一个更好的翻译方法,证明关联理论强大的解释和指导意义。最后,为关联理论视角下汉语典故的英译提供一些参考和借鉴。

Shui Hu Zhuan, as one of the four classical masterpieces of China, is a treasure of the Chinese na-tion, which contains a lot of allusions. This paper takes two versions of Shapiro and Dent-Yang as examples. It is a difficult problem for translators to translate allusions. From the perspective of relevance theory, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the translation of allusions in the two English versions, judges the gains and losses of their allusion translation, and sees how they achieve the optimal relevance, or provides a better translation method to prove the powerful explanatory and guiding significance of relevance theory. Finally, it provides some references for English translation of Chinese allusions from the perspective of relevance theory.
