“哪里”既可以用于疑问句中表疑问又可以用于非疑问句中表否定;“哪里哪里”只用于非疑问句,表示谦虚客气与委婉否定,具有“自谦”和“尊人”的意义,礼貌性比“哪里”更强。“哪里哪里”的表达与礼貌原则有着密切的关系。

“哪里(nali)” can be used to express both question and negative in interrogative questions;“哪里哪里(nali nali)” is only used as a non-interrogative, indicating modesty, politeness and euphemistic negation. It has the meaning of “self-modesty” and “respect for others”, and politeness is stronger than “哪里哪里(nali nali)”. The expression “哪里(nali)” is closely related to the politeness principle.
