基于语料库的中英政治语篇模糊限制语对比研究

A Corpus-Based Comparative Study of Hedges in Chinese and English Political Discourse

模糊限制语是语言中最普遍、最典型的模糊语言,是言语交际的重要组成部分。而在政治语篇中,政客往往通过使用模糊限制语这种间接、委婉的表达方式策略性地调节与应用话语以实现政治话语的劝导与说服功能。因此,模糊限制语在政治语篇中扮演重要角色。本研究分别从中英官方网站上各选取15篇政治演讲语篇建成两个小型语料库,主要研究以下两个问题:中英政治语篇中模糊限制语的使用有何异同?中英政治语篇中模糊限制语使用存在异同的原因是什么?研究结果表明,本研究中的中英政治语篇中均使用较少的间接缓和语且均使用一定量的变动型模糊限制语但英国政治演讲语篇中使用直接缓和语的频率高于中国政治演讲语篇。

Hedges, an important part of verbal communication, are the most common and typical fuzzy lan-guage inlinguistics. In political discourse, politicians often use hedges as indirect and euphemis-tic way to strategically adjust and apply discourse to achieve the persuasive function of political discourse. Therefore, hedges play an important role in political discourse. This study selects 15 political speeches from the official websites of China and the official websites of Britain respec-tively and builds two small corpora, which mainly aims to probe into the following two questions: what are the similarities and differences in the use of hedges in Chinese and English political discourse? What are the reasons for the similarities and differences in the use of hedges in Chinese and English political discourse? The results show that the Chinese and English political discourse in this study uses less attribution shields and a certain amount of approximators, but the frequency of plausibility shields in British political discourse is higher than that in Chinese political discourse.
