影视翻译是近年来新兴的一个翻译领域。而作为影视翻译最为直观的表现方式,字幕翻译尚未形成系统的理论体系,还仅停留在凭借经验和悟性的阶段。著名的翻译理论家尤金。奈达提出的翻译理论对影视字幕翻译有很大的启发,其核心理论是“功能对等”——翻译不是要求文字表面的字字对应,而是实现两种语言间功能上的对等。本文论述了电影字幕翻译的特点及其发展现状,并基于功能对等理论,分别在语义、词汇、句法及修辞层面探讨了该理论在《花木兰》真人版迪士尼电影中的应用,试图为字幕翻译研究提供有意义的启示和借鉴。
Film and television translation is an emerging field of translation in recent years. However, as the most intuitive manifestation of film and television translation, subtitle translation has not yet formed a systematic theoretical system, and only stays in the stage of relying on experience and understanding. The translation theory proposed by the famous translation theorist Eugene Nida has a great inspiration for film and television subtitle translation. Its core theory is “functional equivalence”—translation does not require word correspondence on the surface of text, but rea-lizes functional equivalence between two languages. This paper discusses the characteristics and development status of film subtitle translation, and based on the functional equivalence theory, discusses the application of this theory in the live-action Disney film Mulan from the semantic, lexical, syntactic and rhetorical levels, in an attempt to provide meaningful inspiration and refer-ence for the research of subtitle translation.
