“翻译暴力”下的异化与归化——以杨宪益和威廉•莱尔《孔乙己》译本对比分析为例

Foreignization and Domestication under “Translation Violence” —A Case Study of the Contrastive Analysis of the Translation of Kong Yiji by Xianyi Yang and William Lyell

在“中国文化走出去”的背景下,文学翻译的作用至关重要。“翻译暴力”作为文学翻译中不可避免的翻译现象,也受到了人们极大的关注。本文采用定性分析方法,以《孔乙己》两英译本对比分析为例,分别从“翻译暴力”的概念层面、应用层面以及“翻译暴力”对我国文学作品英译的启示三方面展开论述。“翻译暴力”是文学翻译的重要手段,译者应平衡“暴力”的尺度,创造性地展示文学作品中的文化内涵。

In the context of “Chinese culture going abroad”, the role of literary translation is crucial. As an inevitable translation phenomenon in literary translation, “translation violence” has also received great attention. This paper adopts a qualitative analysis method, taking a contrastive analysis of two English translations of Kong Yiji as an example, and discusses the concept of “translation violence”, its application and the inspiration of “translation violence” to the English translation of Chinese literary works in three aspects. “Translation violence” is an important method of literary translation, and translators should balance the scale of “violence” to creatively display the cultural connotation of literary works.
