Guided by the prototype category theory, through analyzing the extension process of the various senses of “burn”, the following research findings have been discovered regarding its translation into English: Firstly, determine the kind that “burn” belongs to. Secondly, determine the specific meaning of “burn” based on the different kinds of people or objects involved. Thirdly, with the help of encyclopedic knowledge and metaphorical expressions, translate “burn” flexibly.
