At the end of 2019, a sudden outbreak of a novel coronavirus disease rapidly spread worldwide. As a result of the pandemic, people’s perceptions and experiences of the world, their behavior, and their modes of expression inevitably changed. In the context of new media, the discourse on the pandemic is no longer just in the form of language but has shifted to images, audios, videos, and other forms, displaying significant multimodal characteristics. The book Discourses, Modes, Media and Meaning in an Era of Pandemic compiles the latest thoughts and research findings of numerous scholars in the field of multimodal discourse studies on the topic of pandemic discourse. It provides new insights for discourse research in different contexts.
