Oranges are Not the Only Fruit, a semi-autobiographical novel by contemporary British writer Jean-ette Winterson, describes the story of the heroine Janet, who grew up in a family of religious believ-ers, and her self-identification of same-sex orientation, so as to break the tradition, fight against fate and pursue happiness. The influence of feminist translation theory on its Chinese translation is of great significance, which plays an important role in conveying the meaning of the original work, re-flecting feminist consciousness and speaking for women. Through a comparative study of English original and its Chinese translation, this paper will discuss the importance and necessity of feminist translation theory for the Chinese translation of Oranges are Not the Only Fruit from three transla-tion strategies: supplementing, prefacing and footnoting as well as hijacking, so as to pursue the liberation of women through the liberation of language.
